RSG Lauds Firm Over Palm Kernel Cracker Machine
The Rivers State Government has lauded an indigenous firm, Moo-hi-Tech Nigerian Limited for fabricating a palm kernel cracker machine.
The State Commissioner for Agriculture Mrs Onimim Jack who made the commendation last Wednesday during the commissioning of the machine in Port Harcourt noted that the device was a unique invention capable of separating palm kernel nut from the shell through a mechanized process.
Represented by her Special Assistant (SA), Engr. Deinabo Horsfall, the commissioner called on stakeholders in the agric sector to patronise the firm by making available the machine to operators of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in order to create opportunity for expansion and employment.
The commissioner called on the management and staff of the company to improve on the machine in order to attract investors.
The agric boss added that SMEs had the challenge of finance, even as she said the machine was affordable and within their (SMEs) reach.
Also speaking, the Zonal Coordinator, South South Zone of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), Mr Michael Nworgu, disclosed that the product was the brain child of an indigene of Rivers State and called for encouragement from stakeholders.
He said the machine would contribute to agric growth in the state in particular and the country in general.
Earlier, the Managing Director of Moo-hi-Tech Nigeria Limited Engr., Marcus Oriji disclosed the machine was the first of its kind in this part of the world.
Orji who is also the inventor of the machine explained that the machine cracks, separate the nut within a minute including the capacity of producing tons of high quality nuts a day.
He disclosed that the machine comes in three categories of small, medium and large, adding that it was targeted at communities of the Niger Delta that are noted for the production of palm kernel.
He stressed that to ensure efficiency, the device uses Clevo –soluble solution that helps in separating the shells from the nuts, adding that the machine is built with rubber and stainless materials to avoid corrosion and ensure durability.
