Students Advised To Shun Crime
As schools prepare to commence the Christmas holidays, pupils and students have been charged to refrain from involvement in anti-social activites.
The advice was given by the President General, League of Character Clubs Nigeria (LCCN), Elder Christian Kokoriko in a chat last Friday in Port Harcourt.
Kokoriko who noted that anti social activities were normally observed to be on the increase during Christmas holidays said, they should use the opportunity to increase assistance to their parents and engage in useful activities.
The LCCN President-General urged pupils and students to rather embark on things that would promote godliness and reflect on the coming of Jesus Christ who came to redeem mankind from the bondage of sin.
“Let the pupils and students use the opportunity to draw close to God by reflecting on the love of Christ and shun anti-social activities.
“They should particularly shun drug addictions and avoid bad company that could lure them into crime”, he said.
He equally advised them not to forget their books but to also embrace their studies during the holiday period.
On the part of the parents and guardians, Kokoriko enjoined them not to give their children too much freedom that could lead the students to civil tendencies stressing that so much accidents and criminal activites had been observed to occure during the holiday.
He noted that the club was more concerned with responsible upbringing of the youths and urged parents and the elderly members of the society to guide the youths with good advice, adding that an important way of influencing the youths was through exhibition of exemplary characters by elders.
