Edo Rulers Want Immigration To Detain Fake Chief
Edo Council of Traditional Rulers has urged the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) not to release one Chief Dogwo Ebiredelu, arrested for alleged human trafficking.
A statement issued by the Ekpoma Traditional Council in Benin recently stated that “contrary to Ebiredelu’s claims, he is not a titled man in the ancient Ekpoma Kingdom of Edo”.
Ebiredelu was recently nabbed at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja, in company of two women and paraded before newsmen.
He was about to leave the country with the two women.
He claimed that one of the ladies was his wife, and the other his maid, who would attend to his needs in Turkey.
Officers of the immigration service, who arrested the suspect, said he was also interrogated in 2009 for attempting to take two ladies abroad.
The Ekpoma Traditional Council, therefore, urged security agencies not to release Ebiredelu, “until he purges himself of his abominations”.
The statement said, “The conduct of this impostor has soiled the name and dignity of Edo State traditional institutions.
“It is regrettable that Ebiredelu boasts of carrying a diplomatic passport obtained from the Federal Government of Nigeria.
“We want to categorically state that in all the 12 clans that make up Ekpoma Kingdom, Ebiredelu is not a titled chief in any of them.”
