Rivers, Destination For Investment – Wike
The Rivers State Gov
ernor, Chief Nyesom Wike says the state is a destination point anyone around the globe will love to stay and invest in view of the many business opportunities that are abound in the state.
Wike made the remark during a dinner party hosted by the state government in honour of delegates at the 11th edition of Rotary International West Africa Project Fair at Government House, Port Harcourt.
Represented by his Deputy, Dr Ipalibo Harry Banigo, the governor said, the rich natural resources of the state and the conducive environment created by the government for business to thrive are great opportunities foreign investors cannot ignore to take advantage of.
He expressed delight to Rotary International for hosting the 11th Edition of the West Africa Project Fair in Port Harcourt, an acknowledgement that the state was safe and secure, and commended the organisation for its humanitarian services across the world and sub-Saharan West Africa.
Wike gave an assurance that the state government would always partner with the Rotary International to fulfil its dreams of providing humanitarian services such as water, environmental sanitation and health facilities for rural communities in West Africa and Rivers State.
In his opening remarks, the state Head of Service, Barr. Rufus Godwins, described the holding of the 11th West Africa Project Fair in Port Harcourt as a landmark event in the history of Nigeria and Rivers State.
Godwins, who further described Rivers State as a place to be in Nigeria, urged Rotarians to the Fair to feel the new life in Port Harcourt anchored on good governance which had eluded the people in the eight years of the immediate past administration.
He enjoined the Rotarians to be good ambassadors of the new Rivers State, emphasizing that ‘’the state is vibrant, a state that is working’’.
The Rotary International Director and Leader of International Partners, Rotary International, Rtn. Brad Howard, expressed appreciation to Wike for the wonderful support given to the club, and accepted the charge to be good ambassadors of Rivers State.
Highlights of the event were presentation by the Rotary International and cultural displays.
