FIDA, NAWOJ, Others Laud MWAN Performance
The Federation of
Women Lawyers (FIDA) in Rivers State, the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) also in Rivers State as well as other non-governmental organisations in Rivers stated, have lauded the efforts of the Medical Women Association of Nigeria (MWAN) Rivers State at placing high premium over the medical health of women and girls in the State.
In an opening ceremony of the MWAN with theme “healthcare Financing: A Tool For Universal Health Coverage” in Port Harcourt Tuesday, FIDA Rivers, represented by its financial secretary, Pastor Mrs Johnson Emere Johnson commended medical women in the State for improving the wellbeing of the people, through their service to humanity and especially to girls which she considered legendary.
Overwhelmed by what she described as a continous engagement of the government and its agencies to formulate policies favourable to women and children by the medical women, Pastor Johnson pledged her federation’s willingness to support the noble course of the medical women of Rivers State.
In her own speech, the chairman of Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, Rivers State Chapter, Chief (Mrs) Okonkwo-Ogabu Lilian extolled the virtues of the medical women in Rivers State which she said has brought together FIDA, NAWOJ and other NGOs into pursing issues that border on women.
The female journalists’ leader expressed delight over the ability of the medical women to enable the world know that there exists obnoxious health practices that need be challenged for the wellbeing of women and girls. She therefore, solicits the partnership of all to promote the noble course of MWAN.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Dr (Mrs) Ipalibo Harry Banigo, has also extolled the ingenuity of the medical women at providing a working data-base of victims of various forms of harassments and victimisation in the State.
