New Leadership To Emerge In Assemblies of God Soon
A new leadership is expected to take over the leadership of Assemblies of God Church in Nigeria by November this year.
According to the General Superintendent of the church in the country, Rev. (Dr) Charles Osueke, a new General Superintendent, who would take over from him will be elected in November.
Rev. Osueke made this known during a dinner party organised by Assemblies of God Church, Silver Valley, Port Harcourt, to round-off a three day revival programme in the church.
He tied the success of his 22 years in office as the General Superintendent to prayers and sound contributions from the church, adding that the journey was not an easy one.
The General Superintendent, who was elected in 1988 when he was barely 46 years old, thanked God for his mercies and achievements of the church during his tenure.
He reiterated that the most difficult challenge he faced was a threat and strong resolution to split the general council of the church, noting that it took God to subdue the unity threat.
“Today I am happy that God has kept Assemblies of God Nigeria unity these number of years under my leadership. I want to also commend Rivers Church for their prayers and support which made my leadership successful”, he said.
He urged AG members to remain focused and committed to their calling as everyone must give account of his/her stewardship to God.
Rev. Osueke said his retirement in November is without fear, adding that “I have confidence that God will give us a leader that will take AG to a greater spiritual level”.
Earlier, the sectional leader of Trans-Amadi section and Senior Minister of AG, Silver Valley, Rev. (Dr) Douglas Damte, commended the out-going superintendent for what he called a visionary leadership that brought AG to the present spiritual height.
Rev. Damte thanked the GS for sustaining the high standard of holiness in the church, adding “I thanked God for raising such a man for AG.
Also speaking, the secretary of Silver Valley Church, Barr. Chike Igbokwe applauded the outgoing GS for the innovative steps he brought into the church and other developmental strides.
He also commended him for the Evangel University which will commence before the year runs out and prayed God to continue to sustain him, even after his retirement.

Rivers Judiciary Denies Issuing Court Order Stopping SOLAD from Swearing in RSCSC Members
The Rivers State Judiciary has denied a media report claiming that Justice Frank Onyiri of the State High Court issued an injunction order restraining the Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), from inaugurating the newly appointed members of the Rivers State Civil Service Commission (RSCSC).
In a statement issued by the Deputy Chief Registrar in charge of litigation at the High Court, Menenen Poromon (Esq), the state Judiciary disassociated itself from the report, describing it as malicious and fabricated.
The statement emphasized that the report was a falsehood and a misrepresentation of what transpeared in the court.
Poromon clarified that no such order was issued by Justice Onyiri or any other judge of the High Court of the state and urged the public to disregard the information, as it lacked any iota of truth.
The statement however advised the public to verify any information concerning the state Judiciary directly from the office of the Chief Registrar, High Court of the State, to avoid spreading of misinformation.
