Passengers Hail RSG Over Okrika Jetty
Some passengers who travel by speed boat to and from the Marine Base, in Port Harcourt to Okrika in Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State have hailed the government over the expansion and rehabilitation of the Okrika landing Jetty.
The passengers, who made the commendation in a chat with The Tide on Wednesday said they were extremely excited over the project, saying that it is part of the dividends of good governance.
According to them, with the rehabilitation of the landing Jetty in the area, the difficulties encountered during boarding and disembarkment from boats at Okrika ATC Jetty would be a thing of the past.
They opined that the Rivers State government under Governor Nyesom Wike had come to the aid of the people at the grassroots, and appealed for more developmental projects for the suffering people at the Coastal Communities in the state.
Comrade Ayotamuno Omoni said the project is Oloay and a welcome development as it was not properly constructed and not used for over 10 years, but the present government had deemed it fit to bring it to standard and specification.
Omoni noted that it will ease departure and arrival of passengers of Okrika and its neighbouring communities either during high or low tide as well as provide space to keep loads, and commended Governor Nyesom Wike for the project.
Also speaking, Pastor Belema Iyaye posited that it is a new dawn and development for the people of Okrika ethnicity and thanked God for the project.
The man of God also thanked the Governor Wike for the project and enjoined him to extend it to Isaka and other Coastal Communities that are also suffering the same fate.
Another, Comrade Promise Dokubo lauded the project size and the parvillion attached to it, adding that it could serve as a resting place and could contain passengers luggage, adding that the Governor really means will for the people of Okrika.
In her reaction, Mrs Abowari Ernest also commended the governor on the project and opined that it would help the people greatly, and charged the speed boat operators to maximally utilisze the Jetty and ensure its maintenance.
