… Tasks Rivers Indigenes On Worthy Ventures
Rivers State Government has challenged indigenes of the state to engage in productive business ventures that would empower them and grow the economy of the state.
Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi who said this yesterday at the Chapel of Victory International Churches, Rumukalagbor, Port Harcourt, urged the people of the state to start small and medium scale businesses that would improve their family economy.
The governor lamented that essential school material like chalk, does not have a production factory in the state, and advised indigenes to go into the manufacturing sector. assuring that government would support them by creating a conducive environment for their businesses to thrive.
He said the present administration is working assiduously to provide the people with social amenities especially in the areas of Health, education and roads as well as taking pragmatic steps that would lead to the reintroduction of boarding schools with the provision of teaching and learning materials.
Governor Amaechi. noted that since no educational system can rise above the level of her teachers the state government has embarked on the training and retraining of teachers.
The Governor also reassured the residents of Port Harcourt that efforts were being intensified to ensure that the state power project is completed soon to deliver an uninterrupted electricity supply to the people.
He used the opportunity to enjoin Christians to serve God in truth and in spirit, stressing that. “it is sweet to serve God. and if you keep yourself holy you will see God speak to you”.
In his sermon, Bishop Wale Oke. said the nation would be a better place to live with God fearing leaders like Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and called on Christians to serve God diligently to attract His mercies.
The praise festival programme of the Church featured performances by International Gospel Musicians like Dr. Ron Kenoly, Dr. Panam Percy Paul amongst others as well as choral performance by the children choir.
