Salary Delay: Kogi ALGON Begs LG Workers
The Association of
Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Kogi State has appealed for understanding by local government workers following the delay in the payment of their salaries.
The Chairman of the state chapter of ALGON, Alhaji Taufiq Isah, made the appeal in a statement in Lokoja at the weekend.
The statement was signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr Abubakar Hussain.
Isah who is also the Chairman of Ijumu Local Government, blamed the development on the rigorous screening and verification exercise of workers and the audit exercise by the Office of the Auditor-General of Local Governments.
The chairman said that the ongoing payment of cleared workers in batches would be sustained and improved upon to speed up the pace of payment.
He gave an assurance that all genuine workers would receive their salaries soon.
Isah also felicitated with Muslims on the occasion of the Eid –el- Fitri celebration and enjoined them not to relent in their prayers for the country and its leaders.
Isah also urged Muslims to emulate the virtues of Prophet Mohammed by continuing to live with other Nigerians in peace.
