Cleric Urges Christians To Embrace Christ
Christians have been told
to give their lives to Christ while on earth.
The Archdeacon, Okrika South Archdeaconry, Rev Godwin Aturuche Eche made the call at the funeral service of late Madam Fanny Abokirisike Igbikisike, the mother of the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area, Hon Titus Igbikisike Wakama, at St. Sphephen’s Anglican Church, Wakama-Ama on Saturday.
With the theme: “Vanity Upon Vanity, All Are Vanity”, taken from the book of Ecclesiastes chapter 12 verses 2,7 and 8, Rev Eche admonished Christians that whatever wealth they acquire on earth cannot give them salvation, stressing that they should do those things recommended by Christ Jesus.
The man of God further enjoined all to know that it is better to be in Christ than to wallow in sin, advising all to repent and follow Christ for their salvation on the last day, stressing “there is no repentance in the grave”.
Meanwhile, the chairman, Hon Titus Wakama, who was excited with the turnout of dignitaries including the Chief whip of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon Evans Bapakaye, a one-time Vice chairman of Ogul/Bolo Local Government Area, Alabo Hon Anthony Ibifuro Tamunonime, among others, thanked all for their presence despite their crowded engagements, saying that it was a show of love.
The Ogu/Bolo CTC boss also thanked the security personnel, especially the DPO of Ogu/Bolo Division, Desmond Madu and his Tai counterpart for ensuring adequate security as well as law and order before, during and after the burial, and also expressed deep appreciation to all for their support and co-operations to make the burial ceremony a huge success.
