Bishop Cautions Against Unguarded Utterances

Anglican Communion, Rt. Rev. Tubokosime Abere, has cautioned the political class against heating up the polity with unguarded utterances.
Rt. Rev. Abere gave the warning in his presidential address at the first session of the fifth synod of the Diocese at St. Bethel Anglican which Amadi-Ama, in the Port Harcourt City Local Government Area.
“As a nation, we must be cautions of our utterances both in public and private gatherings.
“We should not heat up the polity with unguarded statements, pessimism cannot do us any good. We should as much as possible be positive and optimistic in our outlook.
The cleric also enjoined the leadership of the country to address the staggering unemployment situation, adding that more openings should be created for jobs.
Bishop Abere also warned against politicizing the civil service the police the Armed forces, civil Defiance, Judiciary and governmental organizations in order not to jeopardize their constitutional roles.
The Bishop also blamed the increasing rate of social vices and criminal activities on the abdication of responsibilities by most parents in the society.
He particularly urged Christian parents to bring their children to the knowledge of God through Christ saying it is worrisome situation where parents pay high school fees, but their children have no Bibles to read.
He said that the theme of the synod: “Behold I Come Quickly was based on the unfolding events across the world stressing that the events were all pointing to the second coming of Christ.
The Bishop added that the only way Christians could prepare for the second coming of Christ was to be truthful and reflect good conduct in their daily lives.
“If we have not surrendered our lives to Christ, it shows that we are not ready.
“We should use the synod to surrender our lives to Christ so as to be ready for his second coming he said.
