ment says it has mapped out strategies to partner with the Nigerian Employers Consultative Association (NECA) to improve on job creation and empowerment in the state.
Commissioner for Employment Generation and Economic Empowerment, Chief Ephraim Nwuzi who stated this in a meeting with Executives of Nigerians employers Consultative Association in his office, said government was taking pragmatic steps to create opportunities in the area of employment and empowerment to alleviate the economic and financial burden of Rivers people.
Chief Nwuzi expressed worry over the alarming population of unemployed graduates, saying the situation requires urgent attention.
Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Employment Generation, Hon Chris Berewariso, who stated that the collaboration with NECA would check the trend of unemployment, urged stakeholders to rise to their responsibilities and address the causes of unemployment in an honest, responsible and humane manner.
Earlier in his speech, the Chairman, Nigerian Employers Consultative Association, Rivers State Branch, Chief Chris Biriowu lauded the effort of government in job creation and empowerment.
He further explained that the state government has held useful discussions with his organisation in the time past and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on job creation and empowerment.
The NECA boss disclosed that his association was ready to cooperate with government in the area of graduate-training on skill development and employment.
Chief Biriowu, however, advised the government to come up with workable policies that would enhance employment, assuring that NECA was fully prepared to assist them, to achieve set-goals.
