Rivers SWAN Tasks Professionals On Sports Dev …Lauds Brown Ideye Challenge

Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Rivers State branch has urged professionals sportsmen who has made it to the top to initiate developmental sports programmes in the country.
This followed the football tournament sponsored by Brown Ideye tagged “Brown Ideye Challenge” played in Port Harcourt.
Ideye, is a foreign based professional footballer, playing for Olunpiakos, in Greece.
This was contained in statement signed by the state chairman of SWAN, Sopriala Bobmanuel, saying that other professional sportsmen and women should emulate Ideye’s zeal to develop sports in the nation.
According to him, the competition apart from engaging youths meaningfully, will also serve as a sure way of discovering talents for the state.
“We urged other professionals who made it to the top via grassroots to emulate the gestures of Ideye by ploughing back their earning to the development of sports in their states,” Bobmanuel said.
He continued that SWAN in the state support both the sponsor and organisers of the tournament and wish them successful programme.
The SWAN boss, further charged the three football clubs representing the state in this year’s Federation Cup,, Rivers United, Go-Round and Rivers Angels FCs to be more committed and be good ambassadors of the state.
The association also used this forum to wash the clubs goodluck and enjoin them to reciprocate the kind gesture of their sponsor, by lifting the trophies for the tournaments.
