Poor Education Leading Youth Into Crime -Buratai
The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, has said that poor education plays a major role in youth involvement in crimes and other acts that are inimical to national security.
Buratai made the comment in an address read on his behalf by the Chief of Policy and Plan of the Nigerian Army, Maj. Gen. Lincoln Ogunewe, at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre’s Seminar with the theme: ‘Repositioning Nigerian Army Command School for Quality Education in the 21st Century,” in Abuja, yesterday.
The Army chief said that children who were deprived of quality education would be ill-equipped to face the challenges of life while other nations preoccupied themselves in preparation for the 22 century.
Buratai said that with poor education, the youths were deprived the opportunities to contribute effectively to national development and security.
He said that poor education would always lead to frustration among the youth and made them to venture into crimes such as kidnapping, assassination, armed robbery, human trafficking, militancy and other threats to national security.
He said that the quality of education in any organization would always contribute effectively to national security and development.
He said, education security is all about ensuring that citizens have access to quality education in order to add value anywhere in the world less they be educationally disenfranchised.
