Strengthen Government Institutions, Commissioner Urges Rivers People
Rivers State Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Hon Gogo Levi Charles has reiterated the need to strengthen government institutions.
Hon Charles who stated this during his address at the UNDP stakeholders workshop on Assessment of Public Institutions in Port Harcourt, appealed to the citizens in the state to ensure that the various projects executed by the present administration are maintained.
The Commissioner in a release signed by Enyinda Orji and made available to The Tide stated that the state can only move forward when citizens are committed and determined to make the system efficient.
He pointed out that the UNDP’s assistance on existing institutions was highly encouraging as this will increase human capacity to improve the various projects in the state.
The Budget and Planning boss assured participants of government’s assistance at all times and advised them to put in their best in order to achieve the aims of the workshop.
Hon Charles further called on civil servants in the state to change their attitude to work, in order to achieve greater height in service, adding that “your attitude will determine your altitude in life.”
Also speaking, the Special Assistant to the Governor on International Donor Agencies, Barr Bestman Nnwoka said that UNDP embarked on assessment of some key public programmes to effect correction on some past administrative errors.
He called on all stakeholders to contribute meaningfully during the workshop so as to ensure better service delivery in the state.
