Easter: Edo FRSC Records Zero-Accident Deaths
The Federal Road
Safety Corps (FRSC) in Edo said on Thursday, that no deaths from vehicle accidents were recorded in the state during the 2016 Easter period.
The Edo Sector Commander, Mr Samuel Odukoya, told newsmen in Benin that the zero-fatality record was due to intense public enlightenment via the media.
He also attributed the success to the deployment of regular and non-regular marshals at strategic points within the state.
“Four Special Marshals and 550 officers and men of the FRSC were deployed for the Easter Special Patrol from March 23 to March 30.
“Two ambulances and a tow truck were also deployed to ensure accident-free celebration in the state.
“However, nine road traffic crashes occurred in the state during the period; 15 persons were injured and no lives were lost.”
The Edo Sector commander said that a mobile court also sat during the same period, prosecuting 35 offenders, with 33 of them convicted and two discharged.
Odukoya said that the major offences recorded during the Easter patrol included driving vehicles with forged documents (OFD) and Driver’s Licence Violation
