RSG To Partner Groups On Service Delivery
The Rivers State Gov
ernment says it is ready to work with any group with useful ideas that will move the state forward.
The Commissioner for Works, Engr. Kevin Wachukwu, who stated this during a courtesy call by the state chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors stressed that the government was willing to welcome useful ideas from professional groups for the development of the state.
Engr. Wachukwu called for synergy between surveyors and the state government and would appreciate quantity surveyors in the execution of quality projects and urged the institute to see itself as a part and parcel of the government.
He also stressed the need for regular capacity building programmes and pledged the support of the government to the institute.
Earlier, the chairman of the Rivers State chapter of the institute, Mr. Edighoma Isaac Ewa said that the visit was to felicitate with the commissioner who is a fellow of the institute on his appointment.
Mr. Ewa called for the involvement of quantity surveyors in all construction activities in the state as well as evaluation of the projects in the ministry.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Works, Engr. Kevin Wachukwu, has called on the contractors handling the Oil Mill-Elelenwo-Akpajo Road dualisation to expedite work on the project.
Speaking during inspection of the road project, Engr. Wachukwu said the call had become necessany as the state governor would be delighted to commission the project in the next two months.
He also said that the state government had done its part by funding the contractors and urged them to deliver on the job.
