Pressure Against NDDC’s MD Thickens

dia Advocacy for Anti-Corruption, has alleged that a group plans to carry out a smear campaign on the Acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Mrs Ibim Semenitari.
A statement issued by the National Co-Ordinator, Media Advocacy for Anti-Corruption Mr James Okoronkwo, said fictitious memos and frivolous receipts were being published online and print media concerning the Acting MD’s period as a Commissioner in Rivers State.
According to the statement, the aim of the group is to expose her as a corrupt and unqualified person for the position and hence so as to sway public opinion against her.
It also that the group intends said to prevail on President Muhammadu Buhari from confirming her as substantive MD and as well send the anti-corruption agencied against her.
It would be recalled that pressures are mounting from various angles and ethnic groups in the Niger Delta region against the appointment of Mrs Semenitari as the Managing Director of NDDC.
Eastern Obolo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State presently pushing for the removal of the Acting MD, claim that she was occupying a position traditionally meant for Akwa Ibom State based on the zoning arrangement of appointments in the commission.
Moreso a group from Ogoni in Rivers State had also laid claim to the position based on the huge oil potentials of the Ogoni.
Again, the Etche ethnic group has also called for a rightful place in the commission by way of appointment by claiming that it is one of the highest producing of oil in the zone.
