FG Appoints King Jaja University Chancellor

geria has officially issued letter of appointment to the Amanayanabo of Opobo Kingdom and Chairman of Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers, King Dandeson Douglas Jaja as pioneer Chancellor of Federal University, Dutsin-Ma, Katsina State.
King Douglas Jaja received the letter on Wednesday through the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. James Ayatse, who paid a visit to the monarch in Port Harcourt.
Delivering the letter, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ayatse said he was in Port Harcourt to formally present the letter of appointment and other relevant documents as directed by the Federal Government to King Jaja as Chancellor of the Federal University, Dutsin –Ma, in Katsina State.
According to the Vice Chancellor, the appointment of King Douglas Jaja as Chancellor of the university was first approved and announced in May 2015 by former President Goodluck Jonathan and the Governing Council of the university.
He said, the official installation of King Douglas Jaja as Chancellor would take place during the first convocation ceremony of the university scheduled for January 22, 2016 in Katsina State.
The Vice Chancellor also used the opportunity to in- form King Jaja that, he would be conferred with a Doctor of Science honorary degree by the governing council of the university during the convocation ceremony.
Prof. Ayatse who congratulated the pioneer Chancellor on his appointment expressed optimism that the majesty would discharge his duties effectively.
Responding, King Douglas Jaja thanked the Federal Government and the governing council of the university for finding him worthy for the appointment . King Douglas Jaja called on the Federal Government and the private sector to take university education seriously and stressed the need for Nigerian universities to embrace modern technology to enhance development.
