BOA Partners RSG On Agric Dev
The Bank of Agriculture (BOA), has pledged its commitment in partnering with the Rivers State Government towards the actualization of its mandate in making the state grow the agric sector.
The Managing Director of the bank, Prof. Dambala Danju who was represented by the Zonal Manager, South-South Zone, Port Harcourt, Dr. Sunday Audu made the pledge while addressing participants during the celebration of the 2015 World Food Day celebration in Port Harcourt.
Audu also explained that BOA being the apex bank that finances agriculture in the country as a federal government owned bank, is all over the country.
He said that the Managing Director of BOA was passionate in partnering with the Rivers State Government and assured that the bank would pursue the drive with zeal.
He said the bank was already in the process of delivering credit to every sector of agriculture in the state.
Dr. Audu said all sectors of agriculture are financed by the bank even as he said the institution remains the only one that gives out loan on concessional interests.
He noted that agriculture was the only way the country could surmount the dwindling economy as a result of the fall in the prices of oil globally.
The BOA boss said Nigeria is an agrarian country were agriculture should be practised all around.
According to him, the bank has delivered a lot of credit facilities towards agriculture in the state while also promising to work with relevant agencies, individuals, limited liability companies, private and international donors who are ready to partner with the bank in the area of collaboration, partnership and value chain financing.
He said that was the only way agriculture can impact positively on the economy of the nation, while also enumerating some of the bank’s products to include regular savings, fixed deposit savings, Grow and Earn More (GEM), among others.

FG, Ogun Distribute Inputs To 2,400 Farmers
Federal Government and the Ogun State Government, on Wednesday, distributed farm inputs to farmers as part of effort to address food security challenge.
The State Director, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Dr. Toyin Ayo-Ajayi, during the flag-off ceremony of Inputs Redemption Under The National Agricultural Growth Scheme-Agro Pocket (NAGS-AP), in Ogun State, disclosed that beneficiaries of the gesture were primarily rice, maize and cassava farmers across the State.
Ayo-Ajayi commended the Ogun State Government for partnering with the government at the centre for the effort in supporting farmers with inputs that would bring about yieldings for local consumption and likely exportation.
She noted that government is supporting rice, cassava and maize farmers with inputs worth N212,000; N189,000 and N186,000 respectively.
The Permanent Secretary in the State Ministry of Agriculture, Mrs Kehinde Jokotoye, who represented the Commissioner in the Ministry, Bolu Owotomo, stated that traditional farmers are critical in food production, hence the need to encourage and support them with inputs that would bring about desired results during harvesting.
Owotomo said: “Let us make good use of this opportunity, so that the success of this phase will make farmers benefit more from the state and federal governments of Nigeria.”
Earlier, State Coordinator, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Dr. Oluwatoyin Ayo-Ajayi, appreciated the present administration for partnering with the federal government for the initiative, adding that the programme is designed to support farmers at the grassroots level in cassava, rice and maize with inputs such as, seeds, pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers, to boost their production and enhance their livelihood.
