UK Investors To Support Projects In Lagos
The Lord Mayor of the City of London, Mr Alan Yarrow yesterday expressed the readiness of the UK business group to partner and support high valued projects in Lagos State.
Yarrow stated this when he led a team from the United Kingdom on a courtesy visit to Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos state at his office in Ikeja.
He said that large number of businesses in the UK was interested in investing in the economy of the state,
Yarrow noted that, Lagos, as the commercial capital of Nigeria, with its huge population and secured environment was desired destination for business.
‘’In view of the strategic importance of Lagos to the Nigerian and African economy, the UK business group is ready to identify with the new administration in terms of public and private partnership.
‘’This will help us explore different areas of business collaboration and investment opportunities available as well as support some high value projects in the state.
‘’Our investors are willing to collaborate in the areas of maritime, alternative and renewable energy, film industry as well as infrastructural development in the area of health and education, ‘’ he said.
Yarrow stressed the need for the support of the state government in areas of security, appropriate policies and enabling laws to protect their investment.
Responding on behalf of the governor, the Deputy Governor, Dr Idiat Adebule assured the team of the state government’s readiness to welcome business partnership and collaboration with the UK.
He assured that government would continuously provide security and the enabling environment for local and foreign investors to flourish.
‘’To demonstrate our readiness to welcome investment from abroad, we have established the Ministry of Overseas Affairs and Investment also known as Lagos Global, where all the needs of investors coming into the state will be attended to with ease.
‘’Policies and laws on business and investment will be strengthened to protect investors and ensure adequate return on their investment
the UK delegation will embark on a tour of various projects in the state to identify areas of investment and business partnership with the government.
