Another respondent, Dr Stanley Chukwuka, a private medical practitioner based in Port Harcourt, also applauded the initiative and expressed the hope that the houses would be put to good use.
Chukwuka said, the houses, when occupied would help decongest the city as well as ease traffic, and this will help improve the quality of life of the people and reduce losts of man hours”.
“When people live in compacted conditions it poses some health challenges especially stress, which would impact on productivity, diseases will breakout and spread fast, so we thank the governor for his good gesture”.
In her response, a school teacher, Mrs Abigail Mgba, also expressed appreciation to the governor, saying “he has done well”.
Mgba however, used the opportunity to appeal to the governor to provide housing for teachers in the schools where they teach to help enhance their service delivery.
The Director, Legal Department and Secretary, Rivers State Housing Authority, Mr Thomas Adoga, explained that a mixed housing unit simply means different house sizes pertaining to the number of bedrooms and cleared the air that though the houses were in Iriebe, they are not under the control of the authority, adding that they were not about to sell houses.
