Road Project Excites Rumukurushi Community
There was jubilation in
Rumuorianwo Community, Rumukurushi in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, recently, following the successful commissioning of an internal interlocked stone road network and solar street light project, constructed by Orlean Invest Africa Limited.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony at Rumuorianuro Community the Eze Oha Rumuorianwo, Eze S.C. Wokoma, expressed gratitude over the successful completion and commissioning of the project. Eze Wokoma also assured the company of the prevailence of peace in the community, and pointed out that dialogue rather than confrontation would be applied in its dealings with the company to foster a smooth partnership and herald more development projects in the area.
In his remark the Group Regional Human Resources Manager of orlean Invest, Micheal Ndon, who spoke on behalf of the company, said the project was part of its Corporate Social Responsibilities to its host community. Ndon who described the partnership between the company and the community as a marriage, assured the commitment by the company to its community relations policies designed to bring positive development in its host communities.
Earlier in his welcome address, the chairman, Joint Intels Landlord Families Association in the community, Chief George Amadi, has commended the company over its sense of responsibility and commitment towards the implementation of it community relations policy.
Chief Amadi also described the engagement of indigenous contractors in handling of the projects as a move to promote entrepreneurial development and empowerment of the community.
He urged the company to give priority attention to youth development policies, especially in the area of employment.
The women leaders of Rumuorianwo community who spoke with The Tide, expressed gratitude to the company for the project, which she noted had enhanced the aesthetic beauty and urban status of the community. Highlight of the events was a courtesy call on the Eze Esara (IV) Nyerisi Mbam Oro Esara, HRM (Sir) Sidney Worlu JP, by the management of the company.

Technology Key to Nigeria’s Socio-Economic Development, Says Computer Scientist
Dr. Legborsi Emmanuel, former state Chairman of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), has emphasized that technology is the sure way for Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
He made this assertion while speaking with newsmen at the sideline of 118th inaugural lecture series of Rivers State University (RSU) held in port Harcourt, wednesday.
He stressed that the lecture, which focused on emerging technology and its impact on the socio-economic development of the country, aligns with the NCS’s economic focus.
He highlighted the importance of building an economy driven by technology, citing the success of the Rivers State Smart Economy policy as an example.
The computer scientist emphasized the need for innovation and doing things differently, asserting that “technology is the only way out” for Nigeria’s development. He praised the lecturer, Professor Mathias Daniel, for exploring the applications of technology in various sectors, including agriculture, industry, transport, and socio-economics.
Dr. Emmanuel underscores the critical role technology plays in driving socio-economic growth and development in Nigeria by leveraging technology, the country can unlock new opportunities and address pressing challenges.
