Researcher Advises Farmers On Natural Manure
A researcher in agri
culture Dr. Dan Enyinna have advised farmers in Rivers State to consider investing in natural manure.
Enyinna, a researcher at the Africa Regional Agricultural Research Center Aluu, gave this advise in an interview with The Tide in his office at Aluu.
He said, farmers in the state should plan on building natural manner farms for sale to other farmers.
The don stated that natural manure farms would help replenish the soil and increase yield without the risk of poisoning consumers.
According to him,” manure from animal droppings and compost processing remain the most effective way of increasing yield thereby increasing farmers income.
He noted that misapplication of artificial elements from fertilizers was the reason for low produce in some crops, adding that these elements also have adverse effects on the soil and humans.
He observed that the federal government had placed a ban on some export crops on account of uncontrolled application of pesticides to the crops in the farm and at the point of export and appealed to the government to reverse the ban.
