Ministry Partners FG To Boost Employment In Rivers

ployment Generation and Empowerment has said it was seeking collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Labour to effectively leverage on employment generation and sustainable empowerment in the State.
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Employment Generation and Empowerment, Mrs. Comfort Iragunima stated this in her office during a meeting with officers of the Federal Ministry of Labour, led by the Zonal Director, South-South, Mrs. Omoabie Akpan.
Iragunima pointed out that the collaboration would handle some of the challenges the ministry is facing in seeking for jobs for the unemployed in the state, adding that the meeting with the Federal Ministry of Labour was to fast track processes to achieve best practices in employment generation and empowerment.
She pointed out that most of the problems associated with some companies not employing from their areas of operation and the state in general could be handled jointly by the State and Federal officials.
In her speech, the South-South Zonal Director, Federal Ministry of Labour, Mrs. Omoabie Akpan, said their visit to the ministry was to create awareness and sensitize the state on the availability of Trade Test Certificates for skills acquired.
Akpan said the Federal Ministry of Labour was ready to work with the state government to achieve the needed result in employment generation and empowerment of the citizenry.
She called on the citizens of the state to always avail themselves of the opportunities provided for their development by obtaining Trade Test Certificates from the Ministry of Labour after every empowerment training. The zonal coordinator assured that her ministry will critically study the Rivers State Employment Laws and harmonize it with the federal laws, and advise the ministry accordingly, adding that the Labour Ministry will continue to make available all necessary advise and technical assistance for employment generation and empowerment.

Rivers Judiciary Denies Issuing Court Order Stopping SOLAD from Swearing in RSCSC Members
The Rivers State Judiciary has denied a media report claiming that Justice Frank Onyiri of the State High Court issued an injunction order restraining the Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), from inaugurating the newly appointed members of the Rivers State Civil Service Commission (RSCSC).
In a statement issued by the Deputy Chief Registrar in charge of litigation at the High Court, Menenen Poromon (Esq), the state Judiciary disassociated itself from the report, describing it as malicious and fabricated.
The statement emphasized that the report was a falsehood and a misrepresentation of what transpeared in the court.
Poromon clarified that no such order was issued by Justice Onyiri or any other judge of the High Court of the state and urged the public to disregard the information, as it lacked any iota of truth.
The statement however advised the public to verify any information concerning the state Judiciary directly from the office of the Chief Registrar, High Court of the State, to avoid spreading of misinformation.
