Mrs Buhari Donates Food Items To CRS Women
Wife of the President,
Aisha Mohammadu Buhari, has distributed nutritional supplements to over 3,000 pregnant women and nursing mothers in Cross River State.
The items, include 700 cartons of tomatoes, and 600 cartons of Frisomum, which were distributed at the All Progressives Congress (APC) secretariat along Barracks road Calabar, Cross River State.
Mrs Buhari who was represented by the wife of the National Vice Chairman, South-South of the All Progressives, Congress (APC), Mary Ekpere Eta, said, “the Nigerian first lady was embarking on the free distribution of Frisomum across the country, and Cross River state tops the lists because of her contribution in the last presidential election as a way of saying thank you even though she has not commence her pet project.”
Eta said, “we are satisfied with this large crowed within short notice, and the essence for us is to educate the mothers that Frisomun is very good and healthy for children because it has all nutritional value for nursing mothers and pregnant women.”
According to her, “it is a token of appreciation from the wife of the President to show love to our women who are living below poverty level, this is just the first step towards addressing the issues of women in Nigeria.”
Theresa Odey, one of the beneficiaries, described the gesture as wonderful.
“She has not even started her pet project and is showing this kind of love to Nigerian women, may the good Lord bless Aisha, she said.”
Earlier, the state Chairman of the Cross River APC, Usani Uguru Usani, had commended the wife of the president for a wonderful gesture to Cross River women, saying this no doubt reflects the aspiration of the people, who during the last election, got the highest percentage of votes for President Muhammadu Buhari for the entire South-South and South East geo-political zone.
