DPR Assures On Reduction Of Environmental Degredation
The Department of Petro
leum Resources (DPR) has restated its commitment to work with all stakeholders to reduce the impact of oil operations on the environment.
The zonal operations Controller, Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), Port Harcourt, Mrs. O.C Sibeudu said this in a keynote address at an exhibition organised by the Nigerian Environmental Soecity (NES) in Port Harcourt.
Mrs Sibeudu also said that the challenge of maintaining a clean environment cuts across all sectors of the economy.
The DPR Zonal Operations Controller, whose keynote address was titled: “Emerging Environmental Monitoring Technology and Practice” also stressed the need for continuous review and improve commitment to the environment and mother earth.
According to her, “the Department of Petroleum Resources has continually worked with the oil and gas industry stakeholders to put forward sound environmental policies and standards by keeping pace with novel industry trends and emerging technologies.
“The entrenchment of best practices in the industry has helped us to record reasonable improvement in our environmental performance” she said.
