El-Rufa’I Promises To Support Kaduna Farmers
Governor Nasiru El-
Rufa’i of Kaduna State has promised to evolve various programmes that would assist subsistence farmers in the state to grow into commercial farming.
El-Rufa’i made the promise at one-day Agricultural Summit held in Kaduna, the state capital on Monday.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to promoting agricultural sector through commercial farming.
The governor noted that over 70 per cent of the people of the State are subsistence farmers engaged in crop and livestock production.
He said the state government would partner with Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) to ensure that the Agricultural sector performed to international standards.
The governor also stressed the need to empower youths and women to embrace agriculture as a lifetime career.
El-Rufa’i said his administration would provide the enabling environment for the sector to ensure food security, employment and raw materials for the agro-allied industries in the state.
In his remarks, the programme facilitator, Kasimu Abdurra’uf, said that the summit was to enhance the state’s agricultural sector.
He said the summit was expected to make recommendations that would boost the agricultural sector for faster economic growth of the state.
