Zonal Commanding Officer Flags Off Intra-Sectoral Intervention Patrol
The Zonal Commanding Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Aliyu Gummi has flaged-off this year’s second quarter Intra-Sectoral Intervention Patrol with a charge to officers to checkmate crash causative factors prevalent during rainy season.
Gummi, who gave the charge at Ahoada Unit Command said the Patrol is to focus on driving with warn-out or expired tyres, as well as driving without spare tyre.
He also said that those who violates on vehicle windshileld, excessive smoke emission, speed limit and overloading violation among others would attract sanctions.
He further called on the operatives in the exercise not to lose focus of the recent effort targeted on rickety vehicles, adding that number plates and driver’s licence violations must be sustained during the exercise.
The Zonal commanding Officer however disclosed that for effective exercise, two major routes have been earmarked for the operation and would take place simultaneously along East West road to be covered by Rivers and Bayelsa Commands and Calabar, Itu road to be covered by Cross River and Akwa-Ibom Sector Commands respectively.
Gummi therefore urged all operatives to participate effectively and be safety and security conscious while performing their operations, saying, “it is my hope that this exercise will go a long way in reducing road transport crashes along these major roads”.
He also wished them a hitch-free Patrol exercise as to achieve set goal and warned against any act of indiscipline inimical to the norms of the corps.
