Kaduna Moves To Verify Workers On Payroll
The Kaduna State Gov
ernment says it will on Wednesday begin the verification of the workers on its pay roll to enable it to come up with an accurate and reliable database.
The exercise, which is expected to last two weeks, will end on July 8.
A statement signed by Mr Samuel Aruwan, the Special Assistant to the State Governor on Media and Publicity and released on Sunday said that the data collected from the exercise would enable the government to determine if the billions of naira being spent monthly on staff salary were being paid to identifiable and verifiable civil servants.
According to the statement, the state government expects to make savings from an updated personnel record after the exercise.
It said, “A circular signed by the Head of Service, Mrs Alisabatu Dada Onazi, said that the biometric exercise will be conducted simultaneously in the three zones with locations in Kaduna, Kafanchan and Zaria.“
The circular also specified the order in which workers from each ministry are expected to go for the exercise.
The statement advised workers to be at the verification venue with their letters of appointment, letters of last promotion, and a means of identification.
According the circular, the means of identification should be any of the following: national identity card, driver’s license, permanent voter card or international passport.
The statement said that the head of service had directed workers to appear before the verification team for screening and collection of their salary cheques for the month of June 2015.
Reports say that the state government last week signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the United Bank for Africa and Zenith Bank toward working closely to update the state civil service payroll.
