NEMA: Ije-Ododo Pipeline Fire Has Been Put Out
The National Emer
gency Management Agency (NEMA) has said that the pipeline fire at Ije-Ododo in Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos State has been put out.
The fire has been raging in the area for three days after the petroleum pipeline explosion last Monday night following suspected attack by some vandals.
The NEMA spokesman in the South-West, Mr Ibrahim Farinloye, disclosed this to newsmen in Lagos, Thursday.
Farinloye said that the rains and swampy nature of the land made it difficult for emergency officials to reach the site of the incident early.
He said that platforms made of wooden planks were constructed to enable officials reach the site
“Rain and swampy nature greatly hampered the various efforts of emergency agencies which have been trying to reach the explosion point of Ije -Ododo pipeline since Tuesday.
“But thank God, we have gotten to the fire point and with the assistance of emergency agencies, the fire has been put off,” he said.
Farinloye said that pumping of petroleum products would resume immediately after the affected pipeline had been repaired.
