He noted that bursary payment gives students a sense of belonging and also makes them know that government is interested in their welfare and future performance as leaders of tomorrow.
The students pledged their support for the present administration, adding that, “he is a youth and as a youth we believe that he will not let us down”.
Another student from University of Nsuka who pleaded anonymity expressed concern over the inability of the past administration to pay bursary up to date, stating that, “we the students have received promises with nothing being done about it”.
He called on education stakeholders in the state to lend their voices on the issue of bursary allowance, adding that, “Rivers State students watch other states’ students collect their bursaries. We only collect promises year-in year-out”.
A female student, Anthonia Briggs, said that bursary payment is the only thing that makes a student boast about the administration of his/her governor, adding, “if Wike wants students to be proud of him, it is through the payment of bursaries and scholarships”.
