Wolves Deny Akpeyi’s Move To S’ African Club
Warri Wolves have de
nied that Daniel Akpeyi has signed for South African club Chippa United, insisting the goalkeeper cannot leave the club through the “back door”.
Wolves said they were yet to be contacted by any club for the goalkeeper even nthough they recently approved for him to undergo trials in South Africa.
Warri Wolves spokesman Moses Etu said Chippa United were yet to discuss with them over Akpeyi’s transfer as should be the practice.
“Once again, we have to come out and tell the world that some mischievous people are at it again by trying to pass through the back door to do an illegal business,” Etu stated.
“Our attention has just been drawn to a rumour that Daniel Akpeyi has signed for Chippa United. Ordinarily, we would have ignored the rumour, but it kept on spreading like wild fire and we have decided to come out openly to deny the said contract and advise whoever that is interested in any of our players to meet the management of the club in Warri. That is the way it is done in a civilised society.”
