Family Appeals For Unconditional Release Of Kidnapped Monarch
The family members of Chief Thirdman Lambert, the paramount ruler of Biokpnga in Nembe Local Government Area of Bayelsa, have appealed for his unconditional release by his abductors.
One of his sons, Mr Idua Lambert, who made the appeal for his release, said the entire community had been anxious and worried about his safety and health condition.
He urged the security agencies to redouble their efforts to free the monarch, while also appealing to his abductors to release him unconditionally.
According to him, the entire community has been praying earnestly for the safe return of the traditional ruler, even as the development has dampened the mood of his subjects.
Meanwhile, the spokesman of the Bayelsa Police Command, Mr Asinim Butswat, told the newsmen that efforts were being made to free the monarch.
Butswat said that the command swung into action immediately it received the report of his kidnap and was making progress in its investigations.
The whereabouts of the monarch had remained unknown after he was forcefully abducted and taken to an unknown destination by unidentified gunmen 13 days ago.
In another development, three men have been arranged before a Bayelsa High Court for allegedly snatching a handbag containing Blackberry phones, ATM cards, and N100,000.
The accused are Udochukwu Chikere, Emeka Chikere, Michael Awah.
The trio is facing a charge of armed robbery and theft.
According to the prosecution, the accused committed the offences on Dec.10, 2013 along Okaki Road, Akenfa-Epie in Yenagoa.
They were alleged to have robbed a woman, Rita Bob, of her handbag containing the sum of N100,000.00.
Other items in the bag are two ATM cards, one Techno mobile phone valued at N35,000 and one Blackberry phone valued at N55,000.
A State Counsel, Mr A.S. Arthur, told the court that a locally-made pistol was found at the residence of the first accused (Chikere) during a search by the police.
Justice M.I. Akpomiemie, adjourned the case to June 26 to enable the prosecutor to produce the gun allegedly found in the room of the first accused.
