Firm, State Target Excess Power From Dangote’s Factory
The management of Abuja
Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) and the Kogi Government have resolved to work towards buying excess energy from the Dangote Group, to boost power supply in the state.
The Dangote Group is currently generating electricity in excess of the requirement of its cement production plant in Obajana.
This is contained in a statement signed by Head of Public Affairs of the company, in Mallam Ahmed Shekarau, Abuja on Monday.
The statement said that the Managing Director of AEDC, Mr. Neil Croucher, represented the company while the Secretary to the Kogi Government, Prof. Olugbemiro Jegede, led the government’s delegation.
It said that both parties were hopeful that such surplus energy would help significantly to enhance electricity supply in various parts of the state.
The statement said that Croucher reassured the government and people of Kogi that the AEDC did not bill its un-metered customers arbitrarily.
