RSUST VC Gets Kudos Over Info Academy
The vice chancellor, Rivers
State University of Science and Technology (RSUST), Prof. Barineme Fakea, has continued to receive kudos for the establishment of Information Technology Academy (ITA) in the campus.
Some students who spoke with The Tide on Wednesday in Port Harcourt, said the programme had enabled students to increase their knowledge on computer development.
A year-one student, Nnenda Enyidiah, said the ITA programme had killed the fear of computer related examinations.
She said on her arrival on the campus as a fresher, the fear of how to go about her semester examination was high as they are ICT- related.
Enyidiah, explained that the initiative was among the best things that have happened to the institution during the Fakae administration.
According to her, students can now handle computer issues with less stress due to the training received in the academy.
Also speaking a year-two student, Chidiebere Jikeh, who said he is currently writing his examination as a student of the academy, noted that it was a brilliant experience so far going by the level of their teaching.
He reasoned that the programme ought to be incorporated into the school curriculum proper since it was part of the school system.
Dikeh told The Tide that the programme was run as a separate entity outside the school curriculum, saying that it should be added as part of semester courses.
Some of the programmes handled in the area, he said, include, power point and other basic knowledge programmes on ICT.
Others called on the school management to ensure that the academy would not go under after Fakae’s tenure as vice chancellor.
