Group Wants 35 Affirmative Action For Rivers Women
Agender-based Non-
governemntal Organisation, the Rumukwurukwuru Women Development Initiative has called on the incoming administration in Rivers State to implement the 35 percent affirmative action in the appointment of women into positions.
The Executive Director of the organization, Mrs. Christie Iwezor who said this in an interview with The Tide in Port Harcourt, said that Rivers women are expecting nothing less than 35 percent.
Mrs. Iwezor also charged the in-coming administration not to forget its promises on the provision of quality education to the people, affordable healthcare services, improved water supply to all rural communities in the state, even as she stressed the need for capital development to be given a boost in the scheme of things.
She also called for an inclusive government that would return the state to its pride of place, while all forms of grievances which arose before and after the electios be amicably resolved.
The executive director also urged the incoming administration to put in place processes toward checking communal crises in the state, advocating for the creation of employment opportunities to check incidences of youth restiveness in the state.
Mrs Iwezor further tasked the incoming administration on the completion of abandoned and on-going projects in the state.
She, however, pledged the readiness of the group to work with the administration towards achieving the vision of the new government in the state.
