Candidates Allege Mix-Up In JAMB Results
Some candidates of the
just-concluded University and Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) computer-based Test (CBT) examinations have alleged that scores they got through SMS messages from the Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB) are different from the JAMB print-outs.
Some of them who spoke to The Tide on condition of anonymity explained that while they got above 200 in the evening of writing the examinations, when they go to get the print-out, they scored less than 200 and vise versa.
“I was really surprised”, a female candidate said, “when I got the text that evening after writing the test, I got 243. But when I went to get the print-out from a cyber café, my score was 172. How can that be?”, she queried.
She further explained that her effort to explanation from JAMB office yield no positive result.
Meanwhile, another male candidate expressed joy to The Tide having got above 230 from the print-out when the text message he received earlier stated that he had 178.
Explaining the situation, the zonal coordinator of JAMB in Rivers State, Mrs. Beatrice Etta-Nyiam said there was no discrepancy in the scores of candidates.
According to her, those complaining fall in the category of persons that sort to cheat by writing the make-up examinations, after they had written the first one.
“Some of them did the first test and know that they did not do well, come back to write the make-up test which was meant for only those who did not write the test as a result of lateness”, she explained.
While noting that the make-up test was only done in Rivers State, she explained further that most of those students that allege discrepancies in scores are the ones that did not do well in the CBT examinations.
