Commissioner Tasks Contractor On New FM Station
The Rivers State Information and Communications Commissioner, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari has ordered the contractor handling the civil work at the state Garden City FM Station to deliver on schedule and in line with his contractual agreement with government or have himself to blame.
Mrs. Semenitari who gave the order Friday during an unscheduled visit to the office complex of the new Radio Station, said that government has fulfilled its part of the contract and was not prepared to be stropped by any one.
She directed that the contractor must as a matter of urgency increase his speed on the job to justify the money he has already been paid.
According to her, “government is not owing the contractor and there is no reason whatsoever for the job to be delayed even by a day”.
On the potentials of the new Radio Station, Mrs. Semenitari said that the government and people of the state stand to gain maximally from the project in terms of employment opportunities and the new image the station will provide for the state.
Responding, the major contractor to the State Government on the project, Mr. Shola Adjah assured that the job would be delivered on schedule as contained in the government.
