WYC: Retired Referee Wants Early Camping For F’Eagles
A former member of the
Nigeria Football Association (NFA) board, has called for early camping for the Flying Eagles ahead of the FIFA Under-20 World Cup the World Youth Championship, WYC.
Adejube told newsmen in Akure that there was no time to rest for the team which on Sunday in Dakar beat hosts Senegal 1-0.
The victory ensured they won the 19th African Youth Championship (AYC) for a record seventh title for Nigeria at the continental under-20 male football event.
The retired FIFA-badged referee advised that there was the need for the team to start playing friendly matches with countries in other groups in the world competition.
“The players deserve special commendation for their performance, but they need a foreign playing tour ahead of the World Cup.
“Also, they should be given early camping, because that will enable them to prepare well for the competition.
“They all started from the scratch, and they should play matches with countries from other groups,” the former board member of the Ondo State Football Agency said.
The Flying Eagles have thus qualified for the FIFA U-20 World Cup more than any other African team.
They will play in New Plymouth at the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in New Zealand, alongside Brazil, Hungary and Korea DPR in Group E.
