Controller Lauds Customs, Police Relationship At Port
The Area Controller,
Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Area II Command, Onne Port, Rivers State, Deputy Comptroller, Hamzat Korau Gummi, has said that there is no strange relationship between officers and men of the Nigeria Customs Service and their Nigeria Police counterparts at the port.
Gumi made this assertion during the familiarisation visit of the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police, in-charge of Eastern Ports Command, Mrs. Helen Kalafite Adeyemi to the command at Onne, recently.
He said the visit was a welcomed development as it would further built on the existing strong relationship with the police in the port, and stressed that strange relationship would never rear its ugly head among all the agencies as well as the stakeholders.
The Onne Customs Controller noted that there had been existing friendship with the police overtime as they understand each other and had been working in harmony, assuring that the cordial relationship would be maintained at all cost to facilitate smooth operations in the port.
Earlier, the AIG in-charge of eastern ports command, Mrs. Helen Kalafite Adeyemi had solicited for closer tie between the police, other federal government agencies and the stakeholders in order to ensure adequate security and safety at the ports for the maritime sector to grow from strength to strength.
Adeyemi said despite the numerous challenges facing the agencies, they should live up to their national and statutory assignments for the interest of the federal government and the maritime sector in Nigeria.
