‘Why We Engaged Veterinary Doctors In Slaughter Management’
The management of
Woji Abattoir said, it engaged the services of veterinary doctors to inspect all animals brought to the abattoir before slaughter.
The Chairman, Sanitation Committee of the Abattoir, Alhaji Kabiru Sani, said this in an interview with The Tide during the Thursday weekly sanitation exercise in the area.
Alhaji Sani also said that the management of the Abattoir has also banned the roasting of meat with tyres stressing that the move was to ensure that animals sold at the abattoir were healthy for human consumption.
He said that operations of the abattoir was now encouraging everyone doing business there to use firewood in roasting of meat, stressing that the advice is being needed by everyone in the area.
The chairman also said that the management was working with both the ministries of health and environment to ensure sanity in the abattoir.
“We have well equipped veterinary doctors who come around to check and inspect all our animals before and after burning. Thursday weekly sanitation exercise was to ensure that the slaughter was clearn and well kept.
