Delta Assures PHCN Of Conducive Environment
The Delta State Government has assured the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) of its commitment to provide a conducive environment to enhance its operations and those of other corporate organisations.
The Chairman of the Delta Task Force on the Removal of Illegal and Unapproved Structures in the Urban Areas, Mr Raymos Guanah, conveyed the government’s position to PHCN in Asaba.
The re-assurance came on the heels of a call by the management of PHCN, requesting government to demolish illegal structures under its cables.
Guanah said that the task force was not only saddled with the responsibility of recovery of government land, but would also ensure that the aesthetic beauty of the state capital was restored.
He assured that all structures on any illegal and unauthorised area would be removed, adding that the government was poised to ensuring that every corporate organisation had a comfortable and conducive environment to operate.
The task force chairman appealed to the police authorities to remove all the structures built under high tension wire in Effurun in Uvwie Local Government Area, saying that the body would not hesitate to demolish such structures because of the danger they posed to the society.
Earlier, the management of PHCN had asked the Ministry of Lands and Urban Development to comply with the mandatory 5.5 metres distance from PHCN installations.
PHCN Business Manager in Delta, Mr Ifeanyi Nwaosu, said that illegal structures under the Asaba 33KV line were posing problem to PHCN in reaching its installations in times of danger, just as they also posed great danger to the inhabitants of the area.
