Gunmen Attacks APC Office In Omoku
Gunmen have attacked the All Progressives Congress (APC), office in Omoku, headquarters of Ogba/Egbema/Andoni Local Government in Rivers State.
The attack took place in the early hours of yesterday as the APC Rivers State governorship candidate, Dr Dakuku Peterside’s campaign train, hit Omoku.
The incident occurred less than one week after the Dakuku Peterside Campaign Organization’s rally venue was bombed in Okrika, just as the APC was setting up a campaign podium for the event.
The campaign manager of Dakuku Peterside Organization in Ogba/Egbema/ANdoni Local Government, Austin Ahiamadu, said the attack on the party’s office was intended to disrupt the APC campaign rally.
“Throughout the night, there were sporadic shooting with gunmen attacking key loyalists of our party. Other parties have organized campaigns in Omoku and APC members have never attacked them. The action is cowardly and meant to intimidate APC,” he said.
Also confirming the attack, Felix Okorogie, said the attack was a cowardly action to intimidate APC.
He, however, commended the security agencies for their prompt response to the distress call sent to them.
The police have not confirmed the latest attack on APC loyalists and APC office in Omoku.
However, the campaign rally held yesterday, graced by a huge crowd despite the attack on APC office in Omoku.
