2015 Polls: TMG Employs 400 Observers For Rivers
The Transition Monitoring
Group (TMG) has recruited 400 Election observers for the forthcoming elections in various parts of Rivers State.
The State Coordinator of the group, Mrs Mina Ogbanga who disclosed this in an interview with newsmen shortly after a meeting in Port Harcourt said that representatives of the group will be in all wards and units across the state during the election.
She said that, the exercise was part of the contribution of the group towards ensuring free and fair elections stressing that apart from Rivers State, the TMG is also present in other parts of the country.
Ogbanga who is also the country Director of the centre for Development Support Initiative (CEDSI), said that all the organizations under the Transition Monitoring Group have been encouraged to mobilize people to participate in the on-going collection of permanent voters cards (PVC).
She said that the Group is embarking on series of awareness on the need for peace during the elections, stressing that the group is interested in ensuring the peaceful conduct of free and fair elections next month in the state.
She commended the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) for mobilizing its staff for the collection of permanent voter’s cards in the state and stressed the need to ensure that every nooks and crannies of the state are covered.
Ogbanga also urged the various Security Agencies to intensify efforts at ensuring that the election is devoid of violence.
On the Peace Accord signed recently by some political parties in the state, she urged the signatories to abide by the accord stating interest of the state must be placed above personal interest.

Rivers Judiciary Denies Issuing Court Order Stopping SOLAD from Swearing in RSCSC Members
The Rivers State Judiciary has denied a media report claiming that Justice Frank Onyiri of the State High Court issued an injunction order restraining the Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), from inaugurating the newly appointed members of the Rivers State Civil Service Commission (RSCSC).
In a statement issued by the Deputy Chief Registrar in charge of litigation at the High Court, Menenen Poromon (Esq), the state Judiciary disassociated itself from the report, describing it as malicious and fabricated.
The statement emphasized that the report was a falsehood and a misrepresentation of what transpeared in the court.
Poromon clarified that no such order was issued by Justice Onyiri or any other judge of the High Court of the state and urged the public to disregard the information, as it lacked any iota of truth.
The statement however advised the public to verify any information concerning the state Judiciary directly from the office of the Chief Registrar, High Court of the State, to avoid spreading of misinformation.
