PH Electrical Market Project On Course – Association President
The President, Electri
cal Dealers Association in Rivers State, Mr Everest Egbodo, has restated the commitment of the association towards actualizing the ultra-modern Electrical Market in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital.
The president who spoke to The Tide recently said the delay was due to finance and logistics factors but expressed hope that the project was not abandoned but is rather on course.
According to him, developing the ultramodern market viewed as one of the best in West African subregion, is capital intensive.
“So, we seek collaboration with other bodies including the government to enable us complete it without compromising its standard”.
The market he said prides of such facilities as secretariat, car park, police post, creche bank, ICT, mini-fire service station and independent power, amongst others.
“Within this region, there is none to compare with ours. Even the electrical market in Lagos may be big but it can boost of the type of facilities we hope to have”, he said, noting that the market would attract a lot of business to Rivers State.
He commended the Rivers State Government for issuing the association approval plan through the Greater Port Harcourt Development Authority for the market.
He however, solicited for more persons, organizations and the Rivers State Government to collaborate with the electrical association to enable it complete the project in good time.
The president explained that it would be unfair to compare the building materials market with the electrical market, as according to him, building materials market may not need the sophisticated facilities as the electrical market.
The Tide reports that the electrical market was initiated in 2006 with 99 plots of Land at Iriebe in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.
