Kotoko Can Make Impact In Africa – Coach
Maxwell Konadu be
lieves that Asante Kotoko would do very well in their African campaign if they are able to transform the quality group of individual players into a team.
The Ghanaian champions are hoping to make a stronger impact on their return to the CAF Champions League.
Kotoko were painfully eliminated from the preliminary stages of the competition last term at the hands of lowly ranked Liberian club, Barrack Young Controllers.
The club is determined to avoid such a disaster in next year’s edition and have thus made meaningful signings to augment the squad.
The likes of Ahmed Toure, Rashid Sumaila, Frank Sarfo Gyamfi and Obed Owusu have been secured to add to the already existing quality in the team with the likes of Abeiku Ainooson and Jordan Opoku still with the side.
Former coach of Kotoko Maxwell Konadu believes the team will be almost unbeatable if they are able to mount a strong team from the group of quality individual players they have.
“I think this is probably the strongest group of players Kotoko have had in a long while,” the Black Stars assistant coach told Tidesports source.
“Once they merge into a team, very few teams will be able to beat them.
“I think they could even make the top four [in CAF Champions League].”
Kotoko will open their Champions League campaign in the first preliminary round where they have been drawn against Sierra Leonean club East End Lion.
