FCT VIO Generates N2.2bn In 2014
The Directorate of Road
Transport Services of the Federal Capital Territory FCT through the vehicle Inspection Office (VIO) has generated not less than N2.2 billion into the coffers of the FCT administration between January and November this year.
Briefing newsmen on the activities of the VIO in FCT the Assistant Director Operations of the FCT Road Transport Services Department Mr. Wadata Bodings said VIO would continue to ensure that traffic offenders in the nation capital territory are duly prosecuted to serve as deterrent to other motorists within the capital territory.
Bodings said the revenue generated by the VIO was part of the Internally Generated Revenue of the FCT, stressing that the revenues generated by the VIO came from arrested and impounded motorcycles, tricycles and vehicles with incomplete particulars and permits.
He praised the Federal government for the Abuja high rail project and the provision of the high capacity houses to address the challenges of Abuja commuters.
Bodings said the present FCT Administration under the FCT Minister Bala Mohammed has done so much to make available a decent means of transportation to address the daily challenges of influx of people into the city.
He appealed for more buses to be provided for the FCT to cater for the commuters stressing that the number of busies provided now is grossly inadequate for commuters .
He said the FCT Administration would reintroduce Park-and- pay system as done other cities.
