Rector Tasks Lecturers On Sustainable Entrepreneurial Dev
The Rector, Federal
Polytechnic, Auchi, Edo, Dr Philipa Idogho, on Wednesday urged lecturers to evolve sustainable strategies for entrepreneurial skills development among students of the institution.
Idogo made the call at the 2014 exhibition of the polytechnic’s Centre for Entrepreneurship Development Programme (CEDAP) in Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Council.
She said that sustaining the training of students through entrepreneurship would contribute to national growth and development.
“Beyond education certificate, students must acquire additional skills to be self-reliant.
“Students need to acquire additional skills in order not to be over dependent on white collar job,’’ the rector said.
Idogho said the establishment of the entrepreneurship centre in the institution was to sharpen the skills of students.
She advised the students to acquire practical skills that would give them an edge over others in the labour market.
“Our entrepreneurship centre is well equipped with needed skills that will ease the students of the stress of roaming the streets for white-collar jobs.
“The centre is rated one of the best among other polytechnics in the country.
“I want to urge the students to see skills acquisition as a necessity and major tool to break the unemployment menace,’’ the rector said.
Earlier, the Director of the centre, Mr John Ehikioya, said the facility would continue to help students to discover their talents for future empowerment.
