Rivers ANCOPPS Gets New Exco
The All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools, Rivers State Chapter has elected a new executive members following the expiration of tenure for the Lambeth Nwika led officials.
The new ANCOPPS exco is being led by Senior School Principal of Government Girls Secondary School, Oromnike Dr. Augusta Fubara after she defeated other three contestants at an election held in Port Harcourt on Monday.
Dr. Fubara a former winner of the Best Principal of the Year nationwide told reporters that her election marks a new dawn for the body, stressing that her emergence was a divine plan to move the association out of the woods.
She disclosed that for the first time in the history of the association, Principals from the Universal Basic Education level joined in electing officials, a development she observed would help project the body further.
Dr. Fubara called on members of ANCOPPS to cooperate with the new exco through prayer and constructive criticism capable of guiding them in the right path.
She assured that during her tenure the association would have regular meetings, while the exco would display high level of accountability and fairness in its dealings.
Dr. Fubara thanked the Rivers State Government and officials of the Ministry of Education for their support in ensuring that the elections were free and fair.
Other members of the new exco include, Mr. Austin Iwegbu, who emerged as the Secretary, George Otelimabia Financial Secretary and Mrs. Charity Ebe Treasurer.
Former State Acting Chairman of Forum of UBE Principals, Mr Samuel Opusunju emerged as assistant secretary, while Mrs. Ann Ahiakwo took the position of Internal Auditor.
Meanwhile, the forum of UBE Principals in the state has finally merged with ANCOPPS in order to fortify the association.
Mr. Opusunju, former Acting Chairman of the forum told reporters shortly after the ANCOPPS elections in Port Harcourt that the merger had become necessary as both bodies do not want to put up divergent views on issues relating to secondary administration in the state.
With the imaging, he stated that ANCOPPS would strongly address problems, noting that there was no need to segregate among school principals in the state.
